1、How to arouse Bodhichitta-Teachings by Pema Tinley Rinpoche

Before practice, one first should arise Bodhichitta, during the practice should apply the awareness of non-duality and at the end, dedicate all merits. Thus are the three noble principles.

Now let’s talk about arise Bodhichitta. First is to arise compassion towards all sentient beings; second, to put all sentient beings in the realm of Buddha.

All sentient beings want to be happy but don’t know how to get it and all they do are accumulating bad karma. Only if one knows about suffering, about bad karma, could one possibly save all sentient beings. We say to place all sentient beings in the realm of great happiness. To do that, we must first know the sufferings of all sentient beings, thus we will wish to bring them out of it. For us, just to say in words we will save all sentient beings while we have no ability to do so is useless. Only after we get ability through practice could we really help sentient beings.

First we must know the suffering of samsara thus we will want to get out of it and with this renounciation we will start practice. But, if during the practice, we could not do it properly, and become very lazy that we could not go on with the practice, at this time, we should meditate on impermanence diligently.

If during the practice of mediating impermanence, though we could meditate on others will all die but have the wrong view that we ourselves will not die soon and could not really arise the heart of impermanence, then we are doing it wrong. One must keep in mind that all impermanence will happen quickly to oneself, thus one will have the urge to practice.

To arise renounciation and impermanence properly and to know how to practice it, all these need the instructions from the Guru.
