3、How to purify Karmic obstruction by Pema Tinley Rinpoc

H.H. Khenpo Achuk Lama Rinpoche said, from the past to present, of all the things we have done, were they more practice or more worldly pursuit? What kind of person we would turn into in the future? Do we think more of Dharma or worldly things? If of all activities, one could gradually turn more to good karma, then it is ok. In the past, H.H. Khenpo Achuk Lama used to say again and again, “Observe the proportion of your own negative and good karma and observe the direction your MIND is going”.

After observation, however bad the negative karma we have committed, first we must recognize it and CONFESS and determine not to do it again and then to practice properly. If we didn’t even recognize the negative karma we have committed, however we recite the mantra or confess will be of no use and no power.

To purify karma obstruction, first is to recognize what is negative karma, then really arouse heart of repentance, and swear not to recommit, then after proper practice, the negative karma of the body, speech and mind could possibly be purified.

Why do we talk about purification today? We need to recognize all the negative karma we have committed, really repent, swear not to recommit, afterwards we practice Guru Yoga properly, and our practice will become meaningful.

Only when we really recognize our karmic obstruction, confess, swore in the future not to recommit, then follow the instructions of genuine qualified gurus to practice properly, then the former bad karma could be purified and also one can be sure not to recommit in the future.

If one only says, I did wrong in the past and I would never do it again. Just say so and then sit there doing nothing, the karma obscurations could not be purified. To practice with such attitude, there will be neither effect nor result.

In the process of practice, one must first purify karmic obstruction properly, and swore not to recommit, then rely on the guru and practice well.
